Au Bout du Monde
Imagine yourself setting foot on a serene island, where the rustling leaves and the sound of the waves are your only distractions. This is Koh Tan, a paradise island tucked away in the southern archipelago of Koh Samui. The island is easily reached by traditional boat from Thong Krut port and it offers visitors a chance to experience untouched and wild nature.
One of the highlights of Koh Tan is ABDM (Au Bout du Monde), a unique beach bar and restaurant that adds a touch of sophistication to the island’s raw beauty. The bar provides an unmatched view of the surroundings, making it an ideal spot to unwind while sipping on homemade cocktails or savouring a glass of wine.
ABDM goes beyond beverages by offering an equally impressive culinary experience. A five-course menu comprising an appetizer, starter, fish dish, meat dish, and dessert promises to take you on a culinary journey. There is also a special menu for children up to twelve years old, so they can enjoy the culinary experience too.
ABDM also offers a private beach kitted out with sunbeds and chairs. There’s also a relaxation area equipped with comfortable sofas – perfect for chilling out. To top it off, ABDM’s Khun Tan Little Shop offers a delightful selection of clothing, accessories, and bags for those looking to indulge in a bit of shopping.
For those who love exploring, you can take an island interior tour by chauffeured golf cart. The one-hour tour costs 1,000 THB and can accommodate up to five people. It’s an excellent way to witness the island’s unique flora and fauna.
ABDM also offers package options inclusive of a round trip on a long-tail boat. The first option, priced at 2,300 THB, includes a five-course menu, wine pairing, a 1L water bottle, coffee or tea, and sunbed usage. The second option, priced at 1,500 THB, includes the boat trip, five-course menu, and sunbed usage. If you simply want to enjoy their sunbeds and paradise beach, there’s a minimum spend of 1,600 THB.
The beauty of Koh Tan extends beyond its shores. Solar power is the sole source of electricity on this island, which has only about twenty residents. It’s not uncommon to spot various birds, lizards, buffalos, and butterflies during your visit. Exploring the mangrove forest, the White Buddha, and the bat viewpoint are some other must-do activities on Koh Tan.
The tranquillity and untouched beauty of Koh Tan, combined with the quality offerings of ABDM, make it an ideal destination for those seeking a unique, off-the-beaten-path experience.
