Samui International Airport

Samui International Airport (IATA: USM, ICAO: VTSM) also known as Koh Samui Airport, opened in 1989 and is located in the North-East side of the island, closest beach being Bophut Beach.

With daily International Flights, in 2017 Samui International Airport handled more than 2.5 million passengers, a 3% more than in 2016, and over 31 000 aircraft movements. Based on this figures, Samui International Airport was ranked the seventh in Thailand.

Samui Airport is one of the most beautiful and best designed airports in the world; it has been awarded several times for its beautiful tropical gardens and well looked after facilities. It’s privately owned and run by Bangkok Airways.

The 2 terminals are open-sided, with plenty of tropical flowers to give travellers a beach holiday vibe. From here, you can  fly to other locations in Thailand like Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi. You can also fly to and from several locations in China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. The main carrier is Bangkok Airways, but in 2008, Thai Airways International introduced twice daily flights from Bangkok to Koh Samui.

There are only a few air-conditioned areas at Koh Samui Airport, except for some offices and gift shops. There are several eating facilities and the airport provides free snacks often.

You will find car rental desks at the airport from large brands, but we recommend you book your car rental in advance for better pricing and better models.

Right at the exit, there are plenty of options to get to anywhere you want on the island including taxis and shared vans. Some resorts provide shuttles and pick up service. You should find them next to the welcoming area. Taxi prices tend to go from 300THB up to 600THB depending on where you go.
